About Me
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain
Read this quote! Life is too short! If you think you want to do something, do it! Leave your comfort zone and see what happens! My life became more interesting a few years ago, when I went to SE Asia for the first time. Who said life begins at 40? It is certainly true!
Now don’t get me wrong, my life up until that point was great. I was a model at 17 and, although not professional, I managed to get myself into the Daily Express and Torquay Times!!! (OK, not something to boast about maybe, but it was a big thing to me back then). Gained 15 + years customer service experience, including being a fully qualified financial adviser. Ran my own deli business, selling Spanish delicatessen products. And ran my own volunteering business in Thailand.
I’ve done Muay Thai boxing in Thailand, trekked in Vietnam, tubed in Laos, seen the sun rise at Angkor Wat in Cambodia, was a Jillaroo in Australia. Hiked, horse rode, kayaked, sand surfed and black water rafted in New Zealand, but throughout all of this I did not have any clear goals or aims that I wanted from life. I was just happy to go along, having fun and doing the best I could for myself.
So after finding myself single at 37, and catching the travel bug from a couple of trips to Australia, I decided to open my eyes to the big wide world, although at the time I didn’t know how much this was going to affect me.
Having spent 3 years in Thailand, teaching English and a stint at home in the UK, I want to share my experiences with you. The passion I have for all things Asian has grown in me since landing on Thailand’s sunny shores, and I want to share this passion with you.

Thanks,

Hi Ben
The monument of the heroes of Bang Rachan is pretty cool…and Wat Pho Kao Ton or Wat Mai Daeng is another that I think I have been too….this is near the heroes monument. if you find any more let me know

So glad you found the place on earth you feel most drawn to. Isn’t it interesting how we resonate with cultures so different from the one we grew up in?
Yes it is very interesting, I was only writing something the other day about my time home in the UK and wanting to immerse myself into a different culture 😉
